We have used cedar and pine chips in dog bedding forever. It has never happened again.

im thinking maybe the cedar chips may have played a part in this bitch haveing deformed puppies?maybe the oils from the chips got into her skin? ----- Original Message ----- From: hafappaloosa@
When I was a girl, my Dad's health was still good enough he could coon hunt a little, along with my brothers. And even I would go out just to hear the dogs bay. But our best hunter, a Plott coonhound bitch, had a littler of puppies born with deformed feet and legs. It was awful. Many had to be destroyed. And she ate the same things all the dogs did, with no vaccinations, or flea treatments. We used cedar bedding. And baths. It was heartbreaking. She did have a few normal puppies. But she never had another litter like that..but eventualy died of breast cancer. Our vet had NO idea what could have happened. Nature does things like this. I once found a lamb in my neighbors field, with it's eye on top of it's head (only had one eye) and its hears were on the front. Nose was on the bottom. The ewe had left it. I called my neighbor about it so he could come take care of it. It was horrible. It was crying that is how I found it..........

s there anything in the makeup of the breed that bred for this condition and its a throwback? ----- Original Message ----- From: bintkalima To: Pregnancy_and_
Hi, I am new to this group and look forward to learning from everyone.
We have Bernese Mountain Dogs, and have ours screened for Hips, and
elbows and have only healthy litters. Recently my 5 year old Willa had
her 2nd litter and 2 of the pups had no ear flaps. What can cause this
and have any of you all seen this before?
